Andre Petterson’s Clime
i. I am: a multi discipline artist who works with photographs, paint, assemblage, sculpture.
ii. On a ‘typical’ day during pandemic life, you’ll find me:
Juggling activities such as painting the entire main floor of our house and making art. Being busy is good.

iii. Some shows, books + podcasts that I’m enjoying these days:
I’ve always been a movie nut. It’s getting more and more difficult to find new things to watch. TV has become more of a friend than foe. I vacillate between meaningful films and feel good popcorn flicks.

iv. The name of my upcoming show is: CLIME
v. In describing the show in 3 sentences or less, I’d say:
The works all have to do with climate change. I began photographing the local beaches and local houses. I’m not sure what prompted me to combine the two. I removed, digitally, all of the surrounding elements of the houses, and started placing them in the water. A challenge was to find houses that appealed to me – their age, condition and their aesthetic properties and with nothing in front of them or encroaching on them from the sides.

vi. Under lockdown, the show is:
On the wall and will have a shorter run than usual. There will not be a reception. People are welcome to come and visit in small groups.

An ongoing interest and concern with climate change .

ix. One challenge in developing this show was:
Keeping my head up and carrying on in spite of the times. I get a lot of inspiration from my travels, which are now on hold. I take photographs which ultimately get used in my works.

x. Putting a new show out into the world right now feels:
A bit surreal, no pun intended. We have all been through a tough year.

xi. After this show, I’m looking forward to:
A vaccine and some type of normalcy and the ability to travel once again.
