Anne Griffiths
‘The intent of this piece was to create the feeling of being sheltered by the forest, in a tent, within ourselves.’
So writes Victoria artist Anne Griffiths about ‘Shelter’, the gorgeous piece featured above in our header. From March 5h to 19th, Griffiths’ work is featured in ‘From This Place’, an exhibit at Vancouver’s Bau-Xi Gallery. It’s Griffiths’ first show at the Bau-Xi and, as you’ll see in the link below, the artwork is already attracting enormous attention.

Of the artist’s work, Bau-Xi curators say: ‘Griffiths’ unique and intuitive expressions of nature represent a new chapter in the established lexicon of Canadian landscape art. Through gestural line work, a sophisticated colour palette, and varying levels of abstraction, she visually interprets the visceral feeling of being amongst and communing with nature, giving equal attention to the ordinary and extraordinary elements that she encounters in any given landscape.’
