Vanilla Salted Caramel Cake
On visiting new cities, wise tourists will look for the restaurant teeming with locals and go there. A crafty visitor wandering up and down Main Street will take one look at Trafiq and rush right in. The place is buzzing and the food is delicious.
This Cafe and Bakery at 26th and Main was started by Sergio Salamonovitz and Shauna MacNeil in 2011. Salamonovitz established his local reputation with his East Van Absolute Sugar Bakery and the Chunky Monkey bread crafted from dark chocolate, banana puree, ganache and day-old croissants. The first Trafiq location opened 2005 in West Vancouver.
At the Main Street Trafiq, you’ll find lots of people oohing over the tasty, open-faced Avocado Smash, created from spicy avocado, feta and baby arugula on toasted sour dough. As for dessert, the choices are a-plenty.
The Vanilla Salted Caramel Cake is a favourite with its ‘smooth triple chocolate caramel mousse with swirls of dulce de leche and a sprinkle of Maldon salt in between vanilla genoise finished with a salted caramel cream.’
The chocoholics among us will swoon over the Chocolate Decadence with ‘layers of bitter-sweet chocolate covered in dark ganache.’ Particularly delicious are the gold dusted treasures on top. Oh my.
