Bigsby’s Happy Pills
Of course. It makes sense. Happiness will not be found in foul tasting, liver wrenching, dried roots. Happiness comes via tiny meringue tears that have been blessed with colour sprinkles.
The most addictive egg white sugar joy drops are baked and housed at Bigsby The Bakehouse in Mackenzie Heights.
The masterminds behind these bags of Happy Meringue Pills are siblings Earl and Ellen Morris and their families. You might recognize the Morris name from The Red Onion – giant burger bliss – on 41st Avenue.
The Morris family ran The Red Onion for 26 years, sold it, took a break and then started the Bigsby Bakehouse in 2012.
It’s not all meringue kisses. Inside the cozy space, you’ll find delicious house-made sourdough bread, hot meals and wares from other local artisans. There is pure, ethically gathered honey from Master Beekeper Brian Campbell’s Blessed Bee Apiary, Secret Tea Garden Tea, RockCoast Toffee Bark and East Van Jam.
And if that isn’t enough to make you happy, there is always the meringue.
