Doors Open Richmond

Now in its 14th year, Doors Open Richmond starts on June 5th and it’s all online. We spoke to Greg Walker, Chair of the Richmond Museum Society.

i. In describing the show in 3 sentences or less, I’d say:
Doors Open Richmond is a free opportunity to explore behind the scenes of Richmond’s unique heritage, arts and cultural sites. We have been running this event in Richmond since 2008 — 14 years! For the second time, this year, Doors Open will be delivered online over the week of June 5 to 12.
.
ii. In the show, you’ll see:
I’m looking forward to seeing behind the scenes at a broadcast television studio because Fairchild Radio, Fairchild Television and Talentvision are a part of this year’s Doors Open Richmond. As well, there’s the new exhibition at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site, a video produced by the Lingyen Mountain Temple, a chance to learn about the Richmond Chinese Community Society, and a new video about the Steveston Harbour Authority and Fisherman’s Wharf.
.
iii. The inspiration for this show comes from:
The inspiration for Doors Open comes from the opportunity to learn about the unique and diverse society that is Richmond. The event provides Richmond residents and visitors alike the opportunity to learn by visiting sites and experiencing different culture’s food, history, heritage, religion and stories.
