Echoes

As you walk along the Kits Beach path, you might stop to rest on one of a series of stainless steel chairs set out at different angles, some facing the view. When the sunlight – yes, sun! It happens. – is working its way towards the words engraved into the chairs, hop up and you’ll see a french and english poem reflected into the sandy grass below.

Echoes is the work of Canadian artist, Michael Goulet, born 1944 in Asbestos, Quebec. He created it for the 2005-2007 Vancouver Biennale. The Biennale Foundation, along with the Buschlen Mowatt Foundation and Goulet himself donated the work to the city in 2011.
