As flamenco heels stamp from Spain to Mexico, Japan, Albuquerque, Vancouver, other artists can’t help but be inspired by the rhythms, the colours, the percussive guitars. We’ve seen flamenco’s influence on symphonic repertoire, the Billboard 100, contemporary dance, and mixed media installations.

Over decades, we have also seen the impact of flamenco on haute couture. Take a look, for instance, at Giambattista Valli’s striking Spring 2021 Couture, set amidst the buildings of Seville.

From September 4th to 26th, we can celebrate this beautiful art form at the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival. Presented by Flamenco Rosario, the 2021 VIFF is presented in honour of Victor Kolstee – internationally recognized guitarist, beloved husband of flamenco legend Rosario Ancer, and co-founder of the festival.
