i. I have worked as a:
Makeup effects/ Makeup artist for film & television for the past 23 years and run an Eyebrow Microblading & Cosmetic Tattoo studio boutique in Vancouver BC.

ii. I do this creative work because:
I delight in the details- creating details in clay, creating details with paint and texture and creating realism with ink in the skin.

iii. Personal qualities that help me in my work are:
I am driven and hardworking and used to the rigorous pace of film hours which I have applied to starting my Microblading & Cosmetic Tattooing company.

iv. The greatest challenges around doing this work are:
In regards to Makeup for film work, I would have to say the hours and hectic pace of a production run. Relating to Microblading and Micropigmentation, it would be fine-tuning my products and procedure to accommodate all of my client’s unique skin profiles.

v. Creative childhood hobbies:
Painting, illustration and sculpture have been a mainstay in my creative expression for as long as I can remember.

vi. Training that has helped me succeed in this career:
I am a formally trained Makeup artist, a self-taught Makeup Effects Artist who worked my way into Makeup effects labs and worked up the ranks and trained in permanent Micropigmentation and advanced eyebrow microblading, at the level mandated by national standards.

vii. The biggest myth about this type of work is:
The biggest myth is that either one of these technical artforms- either Makeup or Microblading- is easy to learn. Both require great study and practice to become accomplished and proficient… and that’s before you even touch on developing your unique and creative style.

viii. Some proud career moments:
Receiving an Emmy Award, along with talented fellow artists, in 2015 and being trusted to work with some of Hollywood’s finest actors and artisans.

ix. If you want to work in my field:
I suggest that you seek out the top artists and technicians and ask them how they did it.

x. A professional goal I have for the future:
Continue to hone my crafts.
