iv. The name of our upcoming show is:
The title of this exhibition is called “Fight or Flight” based on the classic theme that encompasses science, sociology, and art.
v. In describing the show in 3 sentences or less, I’d say:
Our exhibition Fight or Flight carries a theme that everyone can relate to especially now. The fear of the covid-19 pandemic has made every human’s instinct to react. The exhibition will feature 21 brand new artworks that speak to either “Fight”, “Flight” or “Freeze” by these artists.
vi. Under lockdown, the show is:
The show has adapted to the times we are in, we are launching a 3D Virtual exhibition that will launch on June 9 – Jul 9, 2021 instead of at a physical gallery. The link will be posted at https://www.painter8.ca/fight-or-flight in June.
Adrian Williams. Windows. 2021
Aaron Sidorenko. WIP Naughty Rainbow. 2021
vii. In the show, you’ll see:
The range of painting styles are purposely varied: representational, figurative, abstract, narrative, conceptual and hints of the graphic arts. These different artists speak to the theme of the show using the best method that they express themselves. By showing all these perspectives, I believe that the general public has an entry way to see and participate in our “Fight of Flight” discussion.
viii. The inspiration for this show comes from:
The inspiration came from a personal struggle, the impulse to flee or fight during this pandemic. The hesitation becoming the “freeze” component. We were all at one time, shifted from our normal life. Our survival instincts were challenged many times.
ix. One challenge in developing this show was:
How to make a professional virtual exhibition? How to get the same impact and the dissemination of a public exhibition online.
Tom Cummins. To Each are Given. 2021
Beth Pederson. My Donkey Won’t Move. 2021
x. Putting a new show out into the world feels:
Great! Art needs to continue and be produced for exhibit. The mandate of the Painter8 Arts Society is to create an ongoing arts dialogue and discussion. As well, as to exhibit nationally at least once a year.
xi. After this show, I’m looking forward to:
Tour this exhibition physically, and curate a new project. I have a good idea, but I will keep that to myself to let the idea have “mulling over time”.
