FLO Design Co. @ First Pick Handmade

i. My name is Sue Muir; I am the designer and founder of FLO Design Co. We are a small jewelry boutique studio located in Vancouver, BC.

ii. I design jewelry. Our designs are spontaneous, intuitive and unforced. We desire to create uniquely classic jewelry that is always on point. Our aesthetic is simple, perfectly imperfect, similar but not the same, much like life itself. We call this “following the flo.”

iii. The name, date, and location of the market I’ll be in next is:
We are showing for the first time at First Pick Handmade at Heritage Hall at 3102 Main Street from September 24 – 25. Please come down and say hi. I love to meet people and share about my design process.

.

.

iv. The type of work I’ll be showing in the market is:
Our work is all handcrafted, organic and modern jewelry. We design for all genders and include materials from silver, bronze, brass and even lava beads.

v. 1 or 2 pieces from the show I can say a few words about are:
At First Pick Handmade, we are featuring our JUMBLE necklace. It’s inspired by offcuts and leftover brass scraps, which are a happy accident. The JUMBLE necklace appeals to my sense of perfectly imperfect outcomes regarding designs.

.

.

We will also feature our KRINKLE Cuff. It’s actual labour of love, frustration and surrender. I have wanted to add cuffs to my collections for some time now. While this one isn’t what I envisioned, I was delighted with the result when I let go of control and let the copper form.

vi. One thing I learned about myself in creating this work is:
I need to trust my instincts with this work and these types of designs. I often look at a piece, and if I like it, I think someone else will too.

.

.

vii. One highlight of my career over the last few years has been:
An incredible highlight of my career was Lilly Singh, Canadian Youtuber and talk show host, wearing my “Angie “earrings on the cover of StyleCaster Magazine.

viii. After this show, I’m looking forward to:
It’s been a very busy year (we’ve been on a road trip of sorts at different markets), so I am really looking forward to a vacation in Mexico and then preparing for a busy holiday market season.
