“Motivation helps on days when I am not inspired,” artist Janna Watson told us. “Commitment is what has brought me success.”

On February 8th through 20th, Watson has a new exhibition at the Bau-Xi Gallery on South Granville: Dragging a Thought Over. ‘Janna Watson’s compelling abstract compositions use colour, line, and energetic brushstrokes to evoke emotion in the viewer,’ they write. ‘Her work possesses an elegant and powerful energy, created with a carefully balanced pairing of loose painting and gestural mark-making.’

“My grandfather was a painter and textile designer,” said Watson, who has also been working in textiles by transforming her abstracts into hand-tufted rugs. “My wish is to carry on his legacy.”
