Langara Pop-Up Galleries

If you wander off 49th into the main lobby of Langara College, you’re bound to find something interesting afoot.

Sometimes it’s vendors selling bracelets, scarves or leggings. Sometimes it’s students raising money with homemade cupcakes or samosas. And sometimes it’s a pop-up gallery displaying the work of graduates from Creative Arts programs in Design Formation, Fine Arts, Professional Photo-Imaging, and Publishing.

I’ve seen intricate cardboard ball gowns, glowing LED Christmas displays and sophisticated paintings that have inspired frenzied battles for purchase.

Right now, the lobby is displaying excerpts from articles that select Langara students created for an issue of Pacific Rim Magazine focused on sustainability. It’s another chance to see some up-and-coming Vancouver creators.
