The ride to UBC just got a little nummier. A new Cartem’s Donuterie has opened this week on Broadway, near Alma.
This is Made in Vancouver deliciousness. It is hard to pick a favourite: Triple Chocolate Threat, The Earl Grey, Lemon Meringue? I’ll do an extra hop, skip and a lunge for the Chocolate Glaze and the Pink Lemonade. Perhaps a Cinnamon Sugar Donut Bowl Sundae is more your speed?
Why are they opening in this new location? That’s an easy question for Founder Jordan Cash.
“1. Why not get busier, as if we didn’t have enough on our plate already!
2. I really love this area of Kits. From MacDonald to Alma, it has a great community feel. There are some solid anchor tenants around us – produce, meats, kids stores, exercise etc – and lots of families and students. So we see a great opportunity here for us to build even more community…story time, open mic nights, late night studying … and do our part to help continue to make Kits great.
3. This area needs great donuts and coffee. We work exclusively with Elysian coffee roasters, as we do in all our shops!
4. We really do love making people smile and at the end of the day, a new shop is a new opportunity to connect with people. Donuts and coffee are the conduit.”
Here is the profile we did on Founders Cash and his good friend, Rags.
