Splash 2018
If you want to learn more about the contemporary art scene in Vancouver, Splash 2018 is a great place to start. Now in its 36th year, Splash raises funds for Arts Umbrella – a non profit art school for kids with quality classes in dance, visual, applied and media arts, theatre, music.
Founded in 1979 by Carol Henriquez and Gloria Schwartz, now headed by Paul Larocque, Arts Umbrella will be moving across Granville Island to a new building – on the old Emily Carr University site – in 2019.
This year, as ever, top artists from across the province are donating their works to the Splash auction, held October 13th at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. You can preview the work until September 28th in the no-charge Pendulum Gallery at 885 West Georgia.
Here are some of the artists – and familiar Vancouver scenes – you will see at Splash.
