Splash 2019
If you’re downtown today and can find a little spare time, head over to the Pendulum Gallery at 885 West Georgia. It’s the last day that the gorgeous works for Arts Umbrella’s Splash Art Auction will be on display in the lobby.
‘This fall marks Arts Umbrella’s 40th anniversary as a non-profit organization dedicated to building community and providing families with equitable access to the arts,’ we read. Eighty percent of Arts Umbrella’s students are ‘served through bursaries, scholarships, and donor-funded community programs.’
Each year, generous artists from Vancouver and beyond donate their works to fuel this auction that is so important for Arts Umbrella’s visual and performing arts programming. The 2019 roster includes exciting new talents, and renowned, Order of Canada-appointed artists represented in collections from MOMA to London’s Tate Gallery, the Guggenheim and the National Gallery of Canada. Artists like Jeff Wall whose Schoolyard, Vancouver, Spring 2011 is shown above.
Here’s a peek at just a few of the works that bidders will be vying for – live or through absentee bid – on October the 26th.
