Symphonic Pride

The pandemic has been brutal for freelance performers who rely on live gigs to craft a living. The Vancouver Pride Society has had to reimagine their annual parade. This evening, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Vancouver Pride Society are collaborating for Symphonic Pride – a free, ‘live streamed variety show featuring local performers accompanied by members of the VSO and selections by queer composers through the ages.’

Symphonic Pride will be helmed by Assistant Conductor Andrew Crust, hosted by Old Soul Rebel’s Chelsea Johnson and feature ‘guest performances by Old Soul Rebel, The Darlings, Rabbit Richards, Ralph Escamillan along with LGBTQ and ally members of the VSO. The program includes music from ABBA, Lizzo, The Righteous Brothers, Nina Simone, and Schubert, as well as a brief History of Queer Musicians in a medley featuring music from Handel to Freddie Mercury to Janelle Monáe.’

Symphonic Pride. July 31st. 7:30 pm
