Tara McNulty
i. I work as a Designer and founder at The SHOOFIE Company.
ii. I do this creative work because:
The universe somehow pointed me in this direction and I didn’t object.
iii. Personal qualities that help me in my work are:
The ones I think help me the most would be a keen interest in problem solving, a tendency to be very persistent and the ability to get excited by certain situations where the outcome is unknown. I’m also very patient—ok not entirely true but I’m working on it…did I already mention persistent?

iv. The greatest challenges around doing this work are:
How to prioritize when everything seems important.
v. Creative childhood hobbies:
Making costumes out of random things found around the house and riding horses—which can be quite creative depending on the horse.
vi. Other creators who inspire you:
At the risk of sounding cliché, I get most of my inspriration from everyday life, the people around me and just doing things. I’ve yet to be hit by the inspiration lightening bolt.

vii. Training that has helped me in this career:
I think having no formal training in fashion or design has helped me the most. If I knew what I was getting into, I may not have started.
viii. A common trap that can hurt people in this career:
I think one trap is trying to do what you love rather than loving what you do. If you want to make a go at success, I think you really have to love every part of what you’re doing, even the parts you don’t like very much.
ix. Some proud career moments:
The ones I’m most proudest of are still to come, stay tuned!

Be quite serious about doing the work.
